Our guiding rule: collect as little as possible from children, and never anything we don't need.
What we don't collect from kids
- No email address or password is required for a child to use the platform. Kids join a cohort with a code provided by their family.
- No real name, home address, phone number, or other personal identifiers are requested from children.
- No advertising and no third-party ad tracking. We don't sell, rent, or share personal information, and we don't run ads.
What we do store
- A display name the child chooses (a fun nickname — not their real name) and their custom avatar.
- Learning progress — which missions they've completed and badges earned — so they can pick up where they left off.
- Cohort messages, if a child uses the optional cohort chat. All messages pass an automated profanity filter and are visible to program staff for safety.
- Basic, anonymous technical information needed to run the service (for example, an anonymous session identifier).
Parent / guardian information
When a parent or guardian signs up or contacts us, we may collect the email address, phone number, or scheduling notes you choose to provide. We use this only to coordinate enrollment, sessions, and to answer your questions — never for advertising, and we don't sell it.
How information is used
We use the limited information above to operate the learning platform, run in-person sessions, keep cohort chat safe, and communicate with families. That's it.
How it's protected
Data is stored with reputable cloud providers using industry-standard security. Access is limited to program staff who need it to run the program and keep kids safe.
Parental rights
Parents and guardians can request to review, correct, or delete their child's information — including their display name, avatar, progress, and any chat messages — at any time. Just contact us and we'll take care of it.
Children under 13 (COPPA)
Because Code the Future is intended for children, we design the experience to minimize data collection from kids and rely on parents/guardians to enroll their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child beyond the limited items described above. If you believe a child has provided information you'd like removed, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
